Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand the philosophical foundation of Yoga Nidra.
- Understand and explain the concept of Koshas and their significance in Yoga Nidra.
- Differentiate between authentic Yoga Nidra practice and other relaxation techniques.
- Identify and articulate the various benefits of Yoga Nidra practice.
- Create personalized Yoga Nidra scripts.
- Analyze, compare, and contrast scripts from prominent Yoga Nidra teachers to clearly understand “true” Yoga Nidra.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in leading Yoga Nidra sessions.
- Explore advanced concepts such as states of consciousness and brainwave benefits.
- Understand and apply techniques to purify the Koshas
- Demonstrate teaching competency through practical sessions.

Evaluation Criteria
Attendance and Participation: participation is mandatory for all classes
Script Writing: Student must write a Yoga Nidra script
Practical Demonstrations: Student must teach a Yoga Nidra session
Final Assessment: Student will be assessed based on individual script and teaching a Yoga Nidra class
Required Materials
Course Manual will be provided
Additional Readings: Yoga Nidra by Swami Satyananda (not required)

About CHITRA

Chitra was born in Guyana to a Family of Indian ancestry, and has practiced Yoga and Meditation daily since the of four. Although raised mostly in the United States, She also grew up in the many Sivananda Ashrams scattered around the world. Chitra’s parents, Yogi Hari and Leela Mata, joined the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Organization when she was a child.
Chitra teaches full-time at various ashrams, studios, and universities worldwide. She leads trainings, workshops, and courses on Vedanta, Tantra, Ayurveda, and Yoga. Her signature course, Yoga Nidra | Awak{end} Sleep™, has become a favorite among yoga teachers and those on the spiritual path. Chitra has certified hundreds of individuals to teach this transformative method, which she describes as a complete system leading to enlightenment.
